Steam Bath Tips

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  • Please do not bring glass of any kind into our steam rooms or dressing rooms. We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy and you will immediately be banned from using our facility.
If glass is broken as a result, you will be liable for any costs associated with the loss of revenue for the length of time that the room needs to be closed for cleaning.
If a bleeding injury results and we are required to contact a bioremediation company for biohazard cleanup, you will be responsible for those costs as well.
  • We kindly ask that you please refrain from touching anything on the radiator itself.  There's been many people that think they need to open the bleeder valve on the radiator to create steam or heat when what they are actually doing is releasing all of the pressure in the boiler and shutting down our system.  There are "do not touch" signs hanging on each radiator bleeder valve.

The bleeder valves need to remain closed and are crucial to running our boiler.

  • Don't bring in any body oils, bath salts or hair colors that may discolor our cement floor.
  • Don't turn off the steam room light switch or pull the chain on the light itself.  And finally, never unscrew the bulb or place a wet facecloth over a hot light bulb in the steam room.

We take pride in the cleaning process we use to disinfect the steam rooms.  We scrub and disinfect the benches and floors in between each guest with contact-safe, non-bleach disinfectants.
Please keep in mind that others are using these same spaces to steam and shower in before you decide to shave or trim your toenails in this space.  Some things are meant to be done at home.

Maintaining a HOT Steam Room

Using the buckets and ladle

  • Fill up both buckets with cold water from the spigot.
  • One bucket is for your personal use. Using a cold, wet facecloth to breathe through is helpful in a hot steam room. Dipping the facecloth in cold water and wrapping it around your neck is a great way to cool down.
  • The other bucket is to use to ladle water over the radiator to create steam.  Toss water over to the radiator multiple times to create steam and then take a minute or two for the radiator to recover.  When using an essential oil, add it to the water in the bucket OR the ladle before pouring over the radiator.  This will infuse the essential oils, like Eucalyptus and Sweet Orange into the steam.  Never pour the oil directly on the radiator.

Please keep in mind that this process has not changed in over 100 years +.  Some steam rooms will require more work to maintain the steam level in the room.  This may be slightly labor intensive for some folks.  We want to maintain expectations for our guests.

When booking a full hour or half hour appointment in the steam room, you are allowed to use the steam room for the entire duration.  (If you book from 6pm - 7pm, you have that steam room until 7pm).  As long as you exit the steam room by 7pm, you may utilize extra time in the dressing room to cool down and get dressed.  When finished in the steam room we kindly ask that you flip on the light switch located in your dressing room as these alerts us that the room is available to be cleaned for the next guest.

Booking online with a membership!

The KEY to booking online and applying your current membership is that you must make the appointment for one person (even if it's for two).  We will add the additional person when you arrive.  If you choose a two-person appointment, it will default to charge your credit card.

Accidently creating a second profile

When logging into your account, make sure you are utilizing the same account you used when you signed up.  We are having lots of people who inadvertently created a second profile when trying to access the member connect site. This creates an issue when you have an existing membership on your original account but you accidentally use the new account to book an appointment.  This causes a charge to your credit card as the membership does not exist on the secondary account.  Please contact us for assistance.

Bringing Glass into the steambath

We do our best to encourage people NOT to bring glass into the steambath.  If you do, you will be charged a minimum of $150 fee plus any additional fees we incur.
